Eating Too Little

A smaller appetite doesn't mean you should eat as little as possible. Under-eating can cause fatigue, muscle loss, hair thinning, and weight loss that outpaces what your body can comfortably handle. See our Nutrition handouts for how to eat enough, even with a smaller appetite.

Skipping Strength Training

Without resistance training, more of your weight loss can come from muscle instead of fat — which can slow your metabolism over time. Two short sessions a week make a real difference (see “A Beginner Strength Routine”).

Under-Hydrating

Eating less often means drinking less, too, since a lot of daily fluid normally comes from food. Low fluid intake makes side effects like constipation, fatigue, and nausea worse.

Stopping Cold Turkey

Avoid this: stopping your medication abruptly without talking to your care team first. Tapering down gradually is almost always more comfortable than an abrupt stop — message us before you plan to pause or stop.

Judging Progress by the Scale Alone

Daily weight fluctuations are normal and don't reflect your real progress. Track energy, strength, and how clothes fit alongside the scale — see “Tracking Progress Beyond the Scale” for more.

Waiting to Reach Out

  • Side effects, questions, and concerns are almost always easier to handle early. Message your care team rather than waiting to see if something resolves on its own.
  • team, and message us with any questions.
